A team of 16 researchers from the University of Arizona, the University of Utah, and Central Michigan University worked on this gene expression as part of NSF’s Plant Genome Research Program. Ramin Yadegari, associate professor at the University of Arizona, School of Plant Sciences, is the principle investigator on Regulation of Early Endosperm Development in Maize, of which this gene expression is one part.
Researchers profiled all mRNAs in the kernel and endosperm of maize variety B73 during a period of 12 days after pollination. The resulting data on gene expression are publicly available in the National Center for Biotechnology Information's Gene Expression Omnibus for future research on how regulatory genes control expression of all genes necessary for early seed development in important crops.
